What’s The Meaning Of Soil Climate Changes
Mar 27, 2018

The soil is the largest carbon warehouse. The content of soil organic carbon is 3 trillion tons, which can reach 84.5% of the biosphere carbon; and the content of humic acid carbon is 2.4 trillion tons, which can up to 67.6% of the biosphere carbon.

Before The Industrial Revolution, the annual accumulated humic acid carbon is almost equal to decomposed humic acid carbon. So we can keep the stability between storage and release of soil carbon stocks, the carbon stocks of biosphere is in stable condition, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere do not fluctuated too much. As we all know, after The Industrial Revolution, humans put a large quantities into the soil, so the balance between the storage and release of soil carbon stocks has been broken. Through the further observation, the main reason for soil organic carbon stocks changes is excessive agricultural inputs. Environmentalists regards this as a kind of attacks to soil. In recent 40 years, chemical fertilizers inputs to soil has become the most important part, it has directly effected the soil organic carbon stocks. Because of the large fluctuations of soil organic carbon, soil climate changes has become an indisputable fact.
